R Fitness
R Fitness is a fitness studio interior in Shanghai, China, covering 550 square meters. Light is used as the main design material. A red box-shaped corridor connects the entrance to the training area and is formed by LED tubes of different sizes and stainless steel mirrors with a water ripple finish. Slashed metal mesh covers the space and echoes the white lines on the floor. The lighting can be switched between red for short strength training and white for regular training and relaxation. The original solid facade was replaced by French windows.
R Fitness Gym by Xu Studio has been highlighted as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. R Fitness Gym received the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design accolade that recognizes outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
