Whyte Woolf
Whyte Woolf is a fitness club interior in Chongqing, China, covering 1500 square meters. The design gives attention to spirit rather than shape. Contemporary art is used as decoration throughout the club, including figures wearing gas masks. The intention is to remind members of air pollution and to encourage them to protect the environment while they exercise. Terrazzo, artificial wood, steel plate and recyclable materials are used. The elements are kept simple, so careful workmanship is needed to realize the concept.
Whyte Woolf Fitness Club by Arthur Yang was highlighted as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Whyte Woolf Fitness Club won the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design competition which rewards outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
