GRND Coffee
GRND Coffee is a cafe interior designed within a space of 30 square metres. The old building has weak partition walls, so a separate steel structure was added to act as an envelope. The envelope is finished with oak wood in a herringbone pattern with brass dividers. Brass spacers repeat the pattern in the polished terrazzo floor. Marble surfaces and polished brass inserts are combined with industrial elements. Instead of standard tables and chairs, a row of upholstered benches runs along one wall. Small, lightweight tables can be moved to suit each guest.
GRND Coffee Cafe by Fahad Alhumaidi was highlighted as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. GRND Coffee Cafe won the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize that celebrates superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
