The Marrow of Tradition
The Marrow of Tradition is a dessert shop interior in Taichung, Taiwan, covering 465 square meters. The design forms a calm place away from the busy city. A fence of wooden pallets stands by the entrance, and the low height of the fence keeps the shop visible from the street. The counter uses an arc form to make the space look wider. Lively green is combined with pale wood as the main tone, while dark wood in the dining area adds visual depth. Wall tiles are laid in varied patterns and allow easy cleaning. A mural on the second floor shows the story of the owner.
The Marrow of Tradition Dessert Shop by Su- Hsiang Hung has been selected as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. The Marrow of Tradition Dessert Shop was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition that celebrates excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
