Fishes Migrating
Fishes Migrating is the interior design of a sushi restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan, covering 178 square meters. The design moves away from the dark tones common in Japanese restaurants and creates a bright and modern space. Circular acrylic sheets in several tangerine tones cover the wall surfaces and suggest the image of migrating fish. The sushi counter is placed in the central area and encloses the existing columns, so the cooking can be seen from every seat. Bar stools, dining tables and booths serve different group sizes.
Fishes Migrating Sushi Restaurant by Mei Hsuan Chiu was featured as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Fishes Migrating Sushi Restaurant received the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize that rewards superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
