Commercial Space
Commercial Space is an office interior created within the renewal of an old residence in Taipei. The tall perimeter wall, built almost fifty years earlier, was removed to open the front yard toward the street. Finished concrete and white stone form the new landscape, while a plantation wall brings greenery close to the building. Inside, the original red brick surface was preserved, and new openings support ventilation and temperature control in the humid local climate. The open garden allows neighbors and pedestrians to walk through and stay.
Commercial Space Office by Shu Yuan Chang was recognized as an outstanding representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Commercial Space Office was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize which honors excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
