Tranquil Zen
Tranquil Zen is a residential interior design completed in Hsinchu County, Taiwan. The layout includes a living and dining area, two bedrooms and a multi-functional room used for meditation and worship. A partition wall behind the television wall was removed to improve the views, the ventilation and the sense of space. Materials include finished concrete, genuine cedar, diatomaceous earth wall texture and timber flooring. Honeycomb curtains control shading and add insulation. The interior joins Japanese Zen style with minimalism to create a calm and simple home.
Tranquil Zen Residence by Derson Chiu has been recognized as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Tranquil Zen Residence was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize that celebrates exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
