Tab
Tab is a mixed-use building in Durgapur, West Bengal, India. Tab brings together a five star hotel, offices, retail units and public parking in one structure. Separate entry and exit points keep each group of users apart. The design draws on the temples of Bishnupur and on the campus of Shantiniketan. Terracotta covers part of the facade, and verses of the poem Gitanjali are placed in weathering steel on the lower eastern face. A reinforced concrete frame on a raft foundation supports the building. High performance glass limits solar gain.
