Interpretation of Romanesque
Interpretation Centre of Romanesque is an exhibition centre located in the village of Lousada, Portugal. The building consists of seven exposed concrete volumes of different heights, and each volume forms a separate exhibition space. A central hall covered with glass connects the volumes and leads to their entrances. The contrast between the bright hall and the darker exhibition rooms guides the visit. Each ceiling reinterprets a roof type from Romanesque architecture. The wood-textured concrete facades recall the stone and wood of older local buildings.
Interpretation of Romanesque Exhibition Centre by spaceworkers was selected as an exceptional representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Interpretation of Romanesque Exhibition Centre was awarded the Golden A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2020. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a highly prestigious international design award which honors superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
