Banlan Hairdressing
Banlan Hairdressing is a hair salon interior located in Fuzhou, China. The facade uses raw concrete with very little decoration. Inside, a black box frames surfaces painted in International Klein Blue, a deep blue hue first mixed by the French artist Yves Klein. The plan is an L-shaped corridor, with washing and cutting stations on the left and a waiting area on the right. Tables and chairs in the waiting area vary in size and color. Metal, leather and paint are combined. The lighting simulates natural light, so hair color is seen correctly.
Banlan Hairdressing Salon by Wenhui Ruan was selected as an exceptional illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Banlan Hairdressing Salon was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design accolade that celebrates exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
