The Attic
The Attic is a residential interior design for a family home in Taipei, Taiwan. The home occupies an attic space six meters high. The living room, dining room and kitchen are placed in one open area without dividing walls, so daylight crosses the whole floor and family members can talk freely between the rooms. Iron, cement and wood are combined with white walls to balance the raw industrial character. The television is set on a swivel mount and can face the sofa, the dining room or the kitchen. Marble, quartz brick and light wood flooring define each area.
The Attic Residential House by Yang Zi Ying has been identified as an exceptional example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. The Attic Residential House received the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design recognition program that rewards excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
