Skewed House Residence

Skewed House

Skewed is a standalone villa located in Surat, India. The house covers 11,000 square feet and is planned as a series of interconnected vistas. Elements are shifted slightly off the straight line, which creates varied perspectives within the three-dimensional form. Simple aesthetics, a minimal material palette and close connections to nature guide the design. Black granite flooring, concrete and plaster walls, and teak windows and interior woodwork are used throughout. A garden on the first floor is carried by a post tensioned slab and connects with the whole house.

Skewed House Residence by Hardik Shah has been highlighted as a grand representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Skewed House Residence received the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2019. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a highly prestigious international design recognition program which honors superior design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
