Aka Teppanyaki Restaurant

Aka Teppanyaki

Aka Teppanyaki is a restaurant for Japanese and Asian cuisine, located inside a resort hotel on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. The indoor area covers 190 square meters and seats 48 guests, while the open air terrace seats 60. An open kitchen with a teppanyaki grill stands at the center, surrounded by a bar where guests watch the chefs cook. Sliding translucent doors, called fusuma, inspired the backlit lattice style wall coverings. A three-dimensional ceiling made of wooden and metal pipes hides the ventilation system.

Aka Teppanyaki Restaurant by Ayse Kubilay has been recognized as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Aka Teppanyaki Restaurant earned the Golden A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2025. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program that recognizes excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
