Casa de Mar
Casa de Mar is a single family residence in the northern part of Merida, Yucatan. The design connects architecture and nature by merging interior and exterior spaces. Gardens can be viewed and used from inside the house. A central horseshoe shaped volume surrounds a pool, which cools the air through water evaporation and supports natural ventilation. Local stone and wood were selected for durability, low maintenance and harmony with the region. Separate entrances divide the social and private areas to ensure privacy and comfort.
Casa de Mar Single Family Residence by Binomio Taller has been selected as an outstanding example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Casa de Mar Single Family Residence was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2024. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program that recognizes outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
