Hangar Renovation
Hangar Renovation is a museum interior created inside a historic aircraft hangar. The museum presents engineering and technology, and the space also hosts events and performances. The new interior elements follow an industrial style linked to the original use of the hangar. A mezzanine with an open lattice structure is raised three metres above the floor. The mezzanine is set away from the exterior walls to preserve the original building. Steel, brick, concrete and wood are used. The old heating stoves and their installation are restored and shown to visitors.
Hangar Renovation Museum by Piotr Pyrtek was identified as an exceptional illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Hangar Renovation Museum received the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design accolade which rewards exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
