Monmono Blue
Monmono Blue is a restaurant and gallery interior in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. The whole space is finished in a single blue tone, creating a monochrome setting for art. Four zones recall a casino, a hotel, a retail store and a piazza, and a vintage car is placed with part of the body out of view. Contrast is built with gloss and matt textures and with lighting at 6000K, because warmer light would make the blue look green. Most elements were prefabricated and installed on site. The interior covers 1464 square feet and seats 50 guests.
Monmono Blue Restaurant and Gallery by Alvan Suen was identified as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Monmono Blue Restaurant and Gallery was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design prize which rewards superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
