Monmono Yellow
Monmono Yellow is a restaurant and gallery located in Central, Hong Kong. The interior is finished entirely in yellow and gold, forming a single-color volume inserted into the busy city. Arches, curved forms and a stair art installation shape the space. Mirrors extend the staircases visually and create the illusion of a tall atrium. Most construction elements were prefabricated and then installed on site, while the terrazzo tables were custom made to match the color tone. The design also serves as a platform for monochrome artworks by local artists.
Monmono Yellow Restaurant and Gallery by Alvan Suen was featured as a creative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Monmono Yellow Restaurant and Gallery was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design award which rewards excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
