Re48 Storehouse
Re48 Storehouse is a commercial interior created inside a former metal factory in Taichung, Taiwan. The shells of the existing factory buildings were preserved, and new structures were added within them. Ultra-high ceilings, exposed rough metal structures and old industrial machinery were kept in place. A timber framework echoes the steel roof frame at a slightly different angle, creating a layered visual effect. A 14 meter long coffee bar recalls the former assembly line. The 443 square meter space holds a cafe, a gallery, a tile showroom and a design studio.
Re48 Storehouse Industrial Factory Reuse by Jing-Shyun, Zhang has been featured as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Re48 Storehouse Industrial Factory Reuse was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize which recognizes outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
