Rebirth of The Rust Belt

The conference center of the Global Industrial Internet Conference is located in Shenyang, a traditional heavy industry city which known as the Rust Belt in China. The building is a part of effort to revive the city. It mainly divided into two parts, the conference part and the exhibition part. The conference part is designed in a cylindrical shape, which has a similar volume and texture to the factory facilities that once existed in the area. The exhibition part with aluminum panel curtain wall creates technological appearance, which bring a new visual experience to the old industrial area.

Rebirth of The Rust Belt Conference Center Building by Xuhui Guo was identified as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Rebirth of The Rust Belt Conference Center Building earned the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2023. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design accolade that recognizes exceptional design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
