Gato
Gato is a commercial interior in Taiwan that combines a shoe exhibition and sale area, a cafe, a bar and a cigar collection within about 112 square meters. The renovation of a forty year old house keeps the original ceiling piping, painted in copper tones, to preserve a sense of height. Rust finishes, hand painted surfaces, solid wood and Italian terrazzo create a vintage atmosphere, while red accents add contrast. A smooth path links the bar, exhibition, lounge and storage areas, and the lighting changes color temperature between day and night.
Gato Commercial Space by Hung-Yuan Hsu has been highlighted as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Gato Commercial Space received the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design competition that celebrates outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
