Vanke Design Commune
Vanke Design Commune is an auditorium and public interior space in Shenzhen, China. The design uses the existing structures to form a floating path leading from the entrance to the auditorium. This steel corridor is suspended in the full-height front hall and is supported by the existing vertical columns, which also conceal pipelines. Heavy concrete and light metal create a strong contrast, giving the corridor an elevated appearance. The route simplifies circulation and offers a garden-like walk. An independent viewing area above the auditorium is combined with a tea drink space.
Vanke Design Commune Auditorium by Wang Jingjing has been selected as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Vanke Design Commune Auditorium earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2023. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition which celebrates exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
