Concavity and Convexity Office Space

Concavity and Convexity

Concavity and Convexity is a two-story reception center located in Taoyuan, Taiwan. The interior combines classical lines with modern materials. Galvanized mesh panels are used as screens and as ceilings around the staircases. The mesh lets light pass through, so light and shadow move across the plain white walls. A corridor with black and white stripes and black mirrors creates a visual effect similar to a tunnel. The ceiling is formed by asymmetrical carved collage instead of a symmetrical layout. The design was inspired by the paintings of Pierre Soulages.

Concavity and Convexity Office Space by Kevin Hsieh has been featured as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Concavity and Convexity Office Space earned the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program that celebrates excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
