Anchor and Sail
Anchor and Sail is a residential interior design of 230 square meters in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Ocean and cruise ship motifs guide the layout, materials, fixtures and color scheme. The open common area holds four zones: a home cinema, a dining section, a fireplace area and a wine-tasting section. A ceiling shaped like a billowing sail and a central beam that recalls a mast reinforce the theme. Space taken from the common area enlarges the closets of the three bedrooms. Soft curves on walls and ceilings cover protrusions and create a gentle feel.
Anchor and Sail Residential House by Jerry Hsu was featured as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Anchor and Sail Residential House received the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design prize that celebrates superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
