Childhood
Childhood is a residential interior design for a family home in New Taipei City, Taiwan. The project combines two adjacent households into one apartment with four bedrooms, two living rooms and two bathrooms. Italian handmade terrazzo and other stone materials shape the main facades, while wooden furniture and decorations create a vintage atmosphere. The back wall of the entryway carries solid wooden supports that store and display bicycles. Cabinets are placed away from natural light, and low units reduce the risk of injury for the three children and the dog living in the home.
Childhood Residential by Yi-Ling Syu has been selected as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Childhood Residential won the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design prize which honors outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
