Qingdao Steel Fortress
Qingdao Steel Fortress is a conceptual showroom created within a former industrial district in Qingdao, China. The renovation retains the original character of the buildings, including pre-existing red brick and rusty steel plate. Anodised aluminium, a newer construction material, is combined with these older elements to link the past and present of the city. The first floor holds a temporary exhibition hall, while the second floor forms the main exhibition area. Open staircases in the public area support public activities. Catering and cultural facilities are also included.
Qingdao Steel Fortress Conceptual Showroom by Robin, Wang has been featured as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Qingdao Steel Fortress Conceptual Showroom earned the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program that recognizes excellent design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
