Momochan
Momochan is a Japanese restaurant located in a shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur. The interior combines concrete and wood in a minimal setting. Wide glass panels at the front and the back allow natural light to fill the space during the day. The shopfront holds an open counter with an ice cream bar and an open kitchen, framed by wood stripes and green marble in earthy and neutral tones. A house shaped ceiling with wood stripes connects the open dining area and a pet friendly area, which are divided by glass panels. Bench seating and striped walls complete the setting.
Momochan Japanese Restaurant by Yew Tze Yong has been recognized as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Momochan Japanese Restaurant was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design recognition program which recognizes exceptional design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
