Bowl Fantasy

Bowl Fantasy is the interior design of a modern Cantonese tong sui store that serves sweet soup as a dessert. The soup bowl, the symbol of the brand, is the main design theme. Bowl forms are split, folded, stacked and regrouped to create a three-dimensional screen, a layered ceiling and large chandeliers. About eighty percent of the design is produced with off-site laser cutting, which reduces cost, construction time and on-site labor. The result is a dessert store where one everyday object shapes every main spatial element.

Bowl Fantasy Cantonese Tong Sui Dessert Store by Manuel Lap Yan Lam has been featured as an innovative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Bowl Fantasy Cantonese Tong Sui Dessert Store was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design accolade that rewards superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
