M and W
M and W is a residential interior design for a split level apartment of 43 square meters. Changes in floor level and openings of different sizes link the areas and widen the views. A composite screen of glass and mirror divides the entrance from the kitchen and keeps light flowing. A mezzanine placed above the study separates the public and private areas. A rotating television wall softens the boundary between the study and the living room. A gray platform joins the living room and the study, serving as seating and as a desk.
M and W Residence by KAO SHIH CHIEH has been recognized as a creative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. M and W Residence was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2022. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program that rewards superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
