The Inhabited Roccolo Private House

The Inhabited Roccolo

The Inhabited Roccolo is a private house set in the landscape of the Lombard Alps. The design reinterprets the roccolo, a traditional bird catcher hut, in a contemporary form. The house covers a ground area of 112.32 square meters and offers a residential area of 332.13 square meters over four levels. The structure is made of reinforced concrete and wood, while the coverings use natural wood, corten steel and titanium zinc. The facades combine projecting volumes and openings that change with each material. Simple forms and natural materials keep attention on the surrounding nature.

The Inhabited Roccolo Private House by Edoardo Milesi has been highlighted as a grand illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award. The Inhabited Roccolo Private House received the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design accolade which celebrates outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
