Twist House
Twist House is a private residence located in an olive grove in the southwest Peloponnese, with a direct view towards the castle of Methoni. The three level house follows the evolution of human dwelling. The excavated ground forms the basement, stone shapes the ground floor volumes, and a lighter plaster volume rests above them. Floor to ceiling openings and floor tiles that extend outwards join the interior and exterior spaces. The total area is 485 square meters. Materials taken from the site were reused to limit the impact on nature and to preserve the existing trees.
Twist House Private Residence by TZOKAS architects has been recognized as an innovative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Twist House Private Residence was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which rewards outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
