Ripple
Ripple is a school library interior design covering 2500 square feet in a secondary school in Hong Kong. The project refurbishes a worn library that was rarely used by students. Curved bookshelves and a round central table form overlapping shapes that recall ripples on water, while matching patterns on the floor and the ceiling complete the theme. Plastic laminate, stone, Corian, carpet, vinyl tile and sound reduction fabric are used, together with light-colored wood and plants in every corner. The arc layout separates areas and makes the limited space appear larger.
Ripple School Library by Vincent Li has been highlighted as a creative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Ripple School Library was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award that celebrates superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
