Glass Core
Glass Core is a reception lobby designed for a community building in Jiaxing, China. The lobby is reached by an elevator that rises through an atrium of 18 meters in height. The elevator shaft is built with a steel structure that supports glass panels combined with LED lights, so the volume glows and marks the entrance of the building. The translucent glass is inlaid with metal, giving a texture similar to white jade with a gold rim. A rectangular staircase is placed around the elevator, so visitors can move by stairs or by elevator. The total area is 1000 square meters.
Glass Core Lobby by Kris Lin has been recognized as a grand example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Glass Core Lobby was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2021. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is an international, jury-voted, fair and ethical design competition which celebrates outstanding design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
