Jiande Aviation
Zhejiang Jiande Aviation is an aviation training base located in the aviation town of Jiande, China. The campus brings together teaching, catering, office and hotel functions. Three groups of buildings enclose courtyards of different sizes, linked by a raised green mound in the centre. Overhead corridors run through the park and connect the functional areas, giving shelter from sun and rain. Aluminium sheets and elastic coatings form the facades, and permeable concrete paves the outdoor paths. The natural terrain is retained rather than flattened.
Jiande Aviation Training Base by gad was featured as an outstanding illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Jiande Aviation Training Base received the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design award that honors outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
