Soleil 88 Phnom Penh
Soleil 88 Phnom Penh is a residential development of 88 row houses in Cambodia. Row houses are common in Phnom Penh, where large groups of similar units are hard to tell apart. The project keeps the existing structure and reworks a facade zone of 1.5 metres. Staggered balconies are recessed at different levels, creating buffer zones between neighbouring houses. The mix of solid and void allows light and shadow to change across the elevation. Each house becomes distinguishable, connected to the others yet separate.
Soleil 88 Phnom Penh Residential by cocoon architecture ltd. was featured as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Soleil 88 Phnom Penh Residential received the Iron A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2021. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design recognition program which honors excellent design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
