Xia
Salon Xia is a hair salon interior in downtown Pasadena, California. The project is a tenant improvement and rebranding for an established local salon. Instead of traditional rows of styling stations, two freestanding hexagonal towers float within the space, giving each of the twelve stylists an open and equally oriented station. Hexagonal shapes repeat in the reception desk, waiting bench, dressing room, ceilings and lights. Colors and materials refer to the Southern Californian and urban setting. The radial layout uses 23 percent less floor area for each station.
Xia Salon by Clay Holden Architects was recognized as a creative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Award. Xia Salon won the Iron A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design in 2020. The A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award is a highly prestigious international design competition which celebrates superior design of residential interiors, restaurants, hotels, offices, galleries, retail stores, showrooms, exhibition spaces and more.
